When you are shopping for pool repair or installation, beware!
Nearly 80 contractors, including pool contractors, were charged with operating without a license in a sting conducted in California recently. Undercover agents posed as homeowners needing repairs or installations for their homes. In addition to being charged with operating without a license, some of the contractors may be charged with illegal advertising, as well as fined for charging excessive up-front fees for the contracted work. Offenders could be facing up to six months in jail and $5000 fine.
When it comes to the pool construction industry, there are several types of certifications that pool contractors can obtain to demonstrate their commitment to professionalism.
Platinum Pools and Spas is proud to be a member of the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals (APSP), which requires its members to maintain strict professional standards in terms of quality, service and craftsmanship. Membership in these organizations must be earned and shows Platinum Pools and Spas’ commitment to the highest levels of professionalism in the pool industry.
The APSP requires that the pool builder adhere to strict ethical standards and have a commitment to the highest standards of workmanship and construction, business stability, and superior customer relations. This designation is held by an elite group of pool and spa builders in the country who have met all of the program requirements.
